"Faith Alone in Christ Alone"

Daniel Scarbrough

Daniel joined the church’s pastoral staff during the summer of 2015.  He serves as the Family and Youth Pastor, with a special focus on making disciples of the next generation and promoting interactions between the generations of the church to show how God is working in the whole body of Christ.  Daniel is currently pursuing a Biblical Studies Certificate from Tyndale Theological Seminary and Biblical Institute, and he and his wife, Shea, live in Madison with their three children.

Biography

Daniel’s parents were attending Riverwood in 1980 when he was born, so Daniel sat in the same chairs as a child that are now used by the children under his ministry leadership.  After graduating from high school, Daniel attended Mississippi State University where he received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting.  Daniel was also involved in campus ministry work while in college and attended three different summer mission trips, all of which gave him a taste for ministry.  After graduation, Daniel worked for 12 years as a CPA with two Jackson area public accounting firms, and it was during this time that Daniel and his family put their roots down as active members of Riverwood.  During this time, Daniel served as a Deacon and then as an Elder of the church.

For many of those 12 years, Daniel and Shea felt the Lord leading them away from life in the business arena, and toward something different…possibly very different, but they continued to wait and pray for what God’s will was for them as a couple.  In late 2014 Daniel accepted a call from the elders, and upon finishing his work commitments as a CPA, he joined the pastoral staff of Riverwood, assuming a number of different teaching, administrative, and advocacy positions for the families of the church.
